At Fort Camping, we are always inspired by the incredible stories our guests share with us. This summer, we had the joy of celebrating alongside Berta and Vincent as they marked their 29th wedding anniversary right here at their happy place—Fort Camping.
We asked Berta to share a little bit about her story, her love for camping, and the secret to a lasting relationship. Her words touched our hearts, and we know they’ll inspire yours too.
A Love Story That Began with Laughter
“Vincent and I met through mutual friends after my divorce. I was a single mom with two boys, and Vincent was a young man who became a close friend. As time went on, he made me laugh, and I filled his life with kids and mess—and somehow, it just worked. Fast forward 29 years, and here we are.”
From Pricilla the “Land Yacht” to a New Motorhome
In 2021, Berta and Vincent decided it was time for a new adventure. Cruising no longer felt right, so they bought their first motorhome—an older RV they affectionately named Pricilla.
“She couldn’t take us very far, but through some friends, we learned about Fort Camping and Agassiz. Pricilla could get us that far… and honestly, it was far enough.”
Bringing their grandkids along quickly became a tradition. “Christmas in July, Halloween in August, Elvis—there was always so much for them to do. It felt like we were miles away from the real world, even though it wasn’t far at all.”
Today, with a newer motorhome and now four grandkids, Berta and Vincent could go anywhere. But for them, there’s nowhere better than here.
Why Fort Camping for Their Anniversary?
“So why would we not choose to come to Fort Camping for our anniversary? It’s our happy place. And so here I sit at Fort Camping with the rain coming down—and it is glorious!”
When asked about the secret to a lasting relationship, Berta kept it simple:
“None of that sappy stuff. Just live your best life and make sure to make each other laugh.” Now that’s true love we witness at Fort Camping!
Berta and Vincent already have their next three-week stay at Fort Camping booked for next summer. We’re so grateful to be part of their journey and to continue being a place where memories are made for them and their growing family.
