Why We Love Camping So Much: Stories from Our Pathfinder Campers

This thanksgiving, we asked our camping community a simple question: Why do you love camping so much?

The answers we received from guests across Fort Camping, Pathfinder Agassiz, and Pathfinder Parksville reminded us why camping is truly special.

The Peace, the Pause, and the Fresh Air

Many of you shared how camping gives you the chance to slow down, breathe, and simply be.
Fred Andrews told us he loves to disconnect, relax, and enjoy nature, while @rving_through_northamerica said, “The campfire smell in nature makes me forget all my worries I left behind.”

Others like @muddgurrl and @tommangat said camping is the only time their minds truly rest—a peaceful reset from daily life. Whether it’s the sound of the trees or the scent of the campfire, camping has a way of clearing your mind and filling your soul.

Family, Friends, and Quality Time

Across all our parks, one thing stood out: connection.
@claudi5718 wrote, “LOVE camping as you can spend SO much quality time with your family and NO distractions!” and @larissamm71 added, “Quality time with family and friends!”

At Fort Camping, Lisa Livingstone-Munday shared that she loves “quality time by the fire with my main squeeze,” while Janine Jordison mentioned the joy of “seeing the kids partake in all the activities.”

Camping is where family memories grow—stories shared under the stars, laughter echoing through the trees, and kids making new friends around every corner.

Exploring, Unplugging, and Living Simply

From Pathfinder Agassiz to Pathfinder Parksville, guests reminded us how camping connects us to the simple joys of life.
@adventurewithwynn shared that camping lets them “relax, slow down, and explore new areas,” and Tim Lee from Agassiz said he loves “meeting new people and seeing new places.”

@bewell_beme summed it up perfectly: “I love camping because it’s a screen-free zone and you get to go back to simplicity.”

Whether it’s hiking new trails, roasting marshmallows, or waking up to the sound of birds, camping brings back the moments that matter most.

Special Memories at Fort Camping

For many families, Fort Camping has become a place for traditions and milestones.
Cathy Deboer said, “We so enjoyed Halloween in August and have booked for next year.”
Sally Cloutier Haysom shared, “I love the feeling I get when we drive in and my shoulders drop and my breathing loosens… no electronics, no noise—just fresh air and the sound of the fire.”

We’ve even had guests celebrate anniversaries, weddings, and birthdays here—proof that camping isn’t just about where you stay, but who you share it with.
