From Newbies to Seasoned Snowbirds: Lynn & Peter’s Winter Camping Story in Parksville

For Lynn and her husband Peter, camping has always been a way to bond and having adventures together. While many travelers head south for the winter, this lovely couple has embraced BC’s mild winter and found a true home away from home at Pathfinder Parksville. Check why winter camping in BC should be your next bucket list.

A Love Story That Led to a Love for Camping

Lynn and Peter’s journey together started long before they became seasoned campers.
“We met through mutual friends in Moncton, NB, in 1982 and have been together since,” Lynn shares.

Their shared love for adventure eventually led them to discover winter camping, a lifestyle that strengthened their bond and brought them to Pathfinder Parksville.

How We Found Our Winter Camping Community With Pathfinder

When Lynn and Peter first set out in their motorhome, they searched for the perfect campground to settle in for the winter.

“This is the story of two newbies with a motorhome looking for a campground for the winter,” Lynn recalls. “We searched and looked at a few, but the ‘feel good’ just wasn’t there. Then one day while looking at a campground in Parksville, we accidentally found Pathfinders, and our first impression was that we loved the location! The friendly staff welcomed us, answered all our questions, and the feeling of being welcomed and the safety of the park made it all worth staying.”

Their first winter at Pathfinder Parksville did not disappoint. The couple quickly became part of a close-knit community, making friends and enjoying the various events held throughout the season.

“Together as a group, we are always there to help each other and ready to welcome new campers,” Lynn shares.

“Now my husband, Peter, and I are a little more seasoned and enjoy helping new campers to the park. We like making new friends and including them as part of our winter stay group of awesome people.”

The welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community make Pathfinder Parksville a special place, one that Lynn and Peter are proud to call their winter home.

“That’s a big YES! All of this is possible because of Nicole and Tony, our awesome park managers who work hard to make sure everyone is comfortable, and they are always there to meet peoples’ needs. It’s really a great place to just relax and enjoy our surroundings with great people sharing this beautiful park. Tips for First-Timers Winter Campers

“Don’t be shy and reach out to the seasoned campers. They are always ready to help! They have been there and done that and are more than willing to help you with almost everything! In conversations with returning campers at Pathfinder, they agree that this is a special place, with helpful people that treat you like family.”
