Exploring Parksville: A Weekend Itinerary

By Anna & Andy – @roamncreate

We stayed at Pathfinder Parksville with Kjack RV rental as our home base for the trip—and turns out, Parksville is worth more than a quick stop on the way to Tofino.

Here’s a list of the weekend itinerary in Parksville:

  1. 💦 Go for a walk at Englishman River Provincial Park. It has forest trails and one of the most unique waterfalls we’ve ever seen.
  2. 🏔️ Hike up to Lantzville Lookout for a gorgeous open wide view toward the water and the mountains.
  3. 🚐 Rent an RV (@kjackrv) or bring your own. One of our favourite things on this trip was spending evenings by the fire at @pathfinderparksville.
  4. 🌊 Head to Pipers Lagoon Park in Nanaimo for an ocean walk. You’ve probably seen it from the ferry but didn’t realise it. The landscape is stunning.
  5. 💦 Visit Little Qualicum Falls. A beautiful loop trail with two waterfalls.
  6. 🦅 Try to spot as many bald eagles as you can! The population seems healthy and we saw plenty (mostly pairs) perched in tall trees by the water.
  7. 🐮 Stock up on fresh cheese and milk at Little Qualicum Cheeseworks. Watch a robot milk a cow (yup!). All cheeses were delicious, but our fav was the Qualicum Spice! 🤤 The animals seem happy and well cared for!
  8. 🌲 Visit Cathedral Grove and go on a short loop walk through a forest of giant trees, the largest over 800 years old!! Don’t skip this.
  9. 🐐 Visit Coombs Market. There are goats on the roof. No one can explain it. A lot of quirky and weird shops and a couple of places to grab something to eat.

Pathfinder Parksville is a cozy and convenient basecamp to explore all these gems. Bring your own RV (or rent from Kjack) or stay with our Englishman Suite.

Thank you, Anna and Andy for the suggestions. We’ve made this image for you based on this article. Feel free to download and print this weekend itinerary in Parksville for yourself.
